Creative Community
Learn what it means to be part of a classroom built around making and sharing original music.
This curriculum requires you to engage with the creative process.
You will make original music and share your work with the group during listening parties. For many, this sort of creative community will be a new experience.
All students and teachers in a composition-based classroom must agree to a code of mutual respect, where criticism is always constructive and members of the group always support one another.
Writing original music is more personal than playing music written by someone else. It requires more sensitivity from all involved.
You all should feel free to make mistakes as you explore your creativity. If everybody agrees to build each other up instead of bringing each other down, there is no limit to what you guys can achieve together and on your own.
You are each other’s most valuable assets in the classroom and as you move into the professional world, wherever you choose to go. Your teacher will lay the foundation with this curriculum, but only you and your fellow students can actually build something beautiful together.
