Choose an artist. Analyze three of their songs. Write about the big ideas behind their music and how they fit into the larger culture. Put all of that together in a Google Slide presentation.
Three Songs - 1 slide each
Pick any artist and analyze three songs. Answer the following questions for each song:
What sounds do you hear?
What are the lyrics about?
How does that song make you feel?
Messages in the Music - 1 slide
After analyzing those three songs, is there a common theme or a message that carries between all three pieces of music? Please describe the connecting ideas between the songs.
Artists in the Culture - 1 slide
Answer the following questions:
What is the artist’s place in culture?
What artists are they similar to?
What genre(s) do they fit?
How are they connected to larger social and cultural forces outside of music?
