Enhance
Using only audio effects, transform a rough track into something polished and engaging.
Activity
Directions:
Use audio effects to take a piece of music that isn’t sounding great and turn it into something more interesting and engaging.
Head to the bottom of the page and open the Soundtrap template, where you'll find music that's ready to enhance.
Thinking about frequency and space, use the holy trinity of audio production (reverb, EQ, and compression) and any other audio effects to push the sound into pro territory. Don’t add any instruments or other sounds – just effects.
Click “Effects” and see below:
Track 1 - Butterfly Kit:
No effects → try adding a Dynamics Compressor followed by a Clipper.
Track 2 - Brixton Bass:
EQs followed by Clipper → The “Saturator” knob on the front of the 808 turns up the Clipper amount.
Track 3 - Cheap Guitar:
EQ, Stereo Chorus → turn them on and off
Track 4 - Rusty Trap Bells:
EQ, Dynamics Compressor, Vibrato, Stereo Chorus, Delay → turn them on and off
Track 5 - Cobra:
EQ → add more effects of your own!
Once you’ve explored the audio effects with the instructions provided above, try turning them all off. You should be able to hear how much the audio effects enhance the music!
