Reflection: Create → Develop → Refine

Reflect on how you move through each phase of the production process.

You’ve engaged with each step of the music production process over the course of the last four projects. Completing the midterm project forced you to move through the entire process. Please reflect on your experience with each phase of the process. Be sure to answer the questions below in your reflection:

  1. What unique strategies do you use in each phase of the process? 

  2. Is the process fully linear for you or are you bouncing back and forth between each of the phases as you work? For example, are you mixing as you go or do you wait until everything is written to start mixing?

  3. Is there a part of the process you enjoy the most? 

  4. Is there a part of the process that is less fun for you?

The questions above will get the ball rolling for you, but you should reflect deeply and go beyond these questions. Remember, a producer’s success is built on their process!
