Reflection: Communication

Reflect on your communication with your collaborator throughout the creative process.

Activity

There are three key components to the practice of communication in music making:

  1. Diplomacy

    • Self-Awareness

  2. Effective Expression

    • Vocabulary

    • Constructive Feedback

  3. Effective Listening 

    • Maintaining an Open Mind

    • Hearing and Absorbing Inbound Communication

Before the Collaboration Project listening party begins, please reflect on your communication during the creative process. Were you always respectful to your collaborator? Did you put yourself in their shoes during the process? How well did you utilize vocabulary to clearly express what you were thinking? And how much space did you leave for your collaborator’s ideas and perspective?
