Reflection: Drew Sliger’s Interview

Reflect on what you learned from Drew about being a recording engineer.

Reflection

After watching Drew’s interview, please reflect on what you’ve learned about recording and engineering. We encourage you to discuss what was meaningful for you, but if you need help getting started, see below for some prompts to get the reflection ball rolling:

  1. Hitting the record button is the tip of the engineering iceberg. There are deep systems required to facilitate creativity and make the process smooth in the studio.

  2. Engineering is a balance of very complicated technical demands and a human sensitivity to body language and energy.

  3. Backing up and storing sessions, audio, and information is an almost sacred responsibility to an artist or band. You serve as their archivist, keeper of their creations!
