Decide first: internal or public?
Internal (recommended default): episodes stay inside your school's environment (Google Drive, your LMS, a private class page). No public feed, lowest risk. This satisfies most classroom needs.
Public: a real, subscribable podcast feed. More authentic audience, more responsibility. Only go here with the privacy steps below handled.
Privacy / PII — settle this before publishing anything public
No last names, schools, or identifying details in audio or episode titles for a public feed.
Get permission: Follow your district's media-release process; keep parental consent on file for any student voice that goes public. When in doubt, don't publish it publicly.
First names or handles only: Treat a student's voice as identifying information.
You are the publisher: Nothing goes to a public feed without teacher review.
Standing up the feed (public path)
Collect final episodes as MP3s in one place.
Choose a host that generates an RSS feed (many have free/education tiers).
Create the show: title, description, cover art, category. Use a class or project name, not student names.
Upload episodes; the host produces your RSS URL.
Submit that RSS URL to directories (Apple/Spotify) only if you intend a truly public show — otherwise share the host link directly with families.
If you only need an audience, not a directory listing: host the MP3s privately and share a link. You get the "real audience" benefit without a public feed.
