The Black Lodge feels so strange because much of the footage is in reverse. The actors learned how to say what their lines sounded like in reverse so that when the film was actually reversed, the lines would be back to “normal.”
In this game, your class will enter the Black Lodge. Follow these steps:
Choose a phrase no longer than four words.
Record it.
Reverse that audio. In Ableton Live, double click on the audio clip, open up the “Audio” section, and click on the “Reverse” button.
Write down what that reversed phrase sounds like.
Record that. It will sound like gibberish.
Reverse it and see if it sounds like the original phrase!
