Navigation Differences
The YPG curriculum was designed using the desktop version of Soundtrap, but students can complete nearly all curriculum activities on an iPad. The biggest difference is where tools are located, not what students are able to create.
Common Navigation Differences
When following the curriculum on an iPad, keep these common navigation changes in mind:
Adding a Track
Tap the + button instead of Add New Track.Browsing Loops
Tap + → Loops instead of the Sound Library.Patterns Beatmaker
Tap + → Patterns Beatmaker to create a new Pattern track.Track Controls
Tap the track name or ⋯ (three dots) to access track settings.Effects
Select a track, then tap FX to add or edit effects.Mixer
Tap the Mixer icon to adjust volume, pan, and other mixer controls.Editing a Region
Touch and hold an audio or MIDI region to open the editing menu.
Finding Your Projects
On iPad, My Projects is located inside the ☰ (menu) in the upper-left corner.
Teacher Administration
Teacher management features—including creating classes, managing students, assignments, grading, and roster management—must be completed using the desktop/web version of Soundtrap.
Keep in Mind
Although the interface looks different, students can complete nearly all activities in the YPG curriculum using an iPad. If a tool isn't where the lesson shows it, it's usually been moved into the +, ⋯, or FX menus.
