Objective: Students submit tracks and then vote on whose they like best.
Variation 1: Listening Party Battle
During an anonymous listening party, students pick their favorites as the songs are played. At the end of the listening party, students submit their favorite songs to the teacher who tallies up the votes.
Variation 2: Battle Royale
The teacher determines what elements need to be included in the submissions and how long students have to work. At the end of the time, students submit their work anonymously and the class votes.
Variation 3: Class vs Class
If there are more than one music production classes at a school or if a neighboring school is interested in participating, students in one class can send their tracks to the students in the other, and vice versa. Students in class 1 pick their favorite of class 2 and vice versa. From there, a championship battle royale can take place between the two winners where they have limited time to complete the same project. Without knowing who made what, both classes vote on their favorite and a champion is crowned.
Notes: All of the variations above work better with prizes. The teacher must reiterate expectations of 100% respect.
